Anthony Peyton Young is a Boston-based artist originally from Charleston, West Virginia. He works across painting, drawing, collage, and ceramics, exploring themes of identity, ancestry, memorialization, Black and Black queer intimacy, and familial and cultural traditions. Young holds a B.A. from West Virginia State University and an M.F.A. from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University. He has received honors including the SMFA/Tufts Traveling Fellowship and the Walter Feldman Fellowship for Emerging Artist. His work is part of public collections such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Juliette Art Museum; and Simmons University. Young has been featured in publications including Gay Letter Magazine, New American Painting, Evergreen Review, and The Boston Globe, and has presented his work at institutions such as the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and Harvard’s Black Portraiture Conference.
