ClampArt is pleased to present “Shoot the Arrow: A Portrait of The World Famous *BOB*”—a series of photographs by Amy Touchette. The exhibition coincides with the release of the artist’s monograph of the same title (Un-Gyve Press: Hardcover, 145 pages, 112 images, $77).

“Shoot the Arrow” chronicles the on- and off-stage life of the celebrated New York City burlesque performer, The World Famous *BOB*. Born a biological female, *BOB* nevertheless aspired to be a drag queen from an early age. A self-described “female-female impersonator,” *BOB* eventually found her home in the “neo-burlesque” movement that began in New York City in the 1990s—a place which allowed her to embrace her femininity in a way that finally made her comfortable.

Amy Touchette, fascinated with *BOB*’s over-the-top blonde bombshell persona, eventually got to know the performer and soon was able to attain exclusive access to both her public and private life, producing a deep and moving portrait of a woman pursuing her dreams of glamour and fame.

Amy Touchette is an artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her photographs have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including the Moscow MoMA, the Pingyao International Photography Festival in China, the Noorderlicht Gallery in The Netherlands, and the New York Photo Festival in New York City. Her work has appeared in the pages of “The New York Times,” “Esquire (Russia),” “SeeSaw Magazine,” and “Black and White Magazine,” among many others. Touchette studied at the International Center for Photography in New York City.
