Daniel Handal was the subject of Efren Olivares’ most recent installment of the virtual interview and discussion series “Getting to Know Contemporary Photographers.” In this clip, Daniel addressed the three projects included in his current solo exhibition at ClampArt: “Final Girls,” “Pajaritos,” and “Cranach Nudes.”
Daniel’s work centers on portraiture and explores issues of gender, sexuality, identity, and community. Daniel is also a master of color and presentation. It has been exciting to watch Daniel evolve his practice and gain international recognition since the time I met him at his Harlem studio five years ago.
