ARTIST SERIES

“Artist Studios New York” is an editorial project by Marco Anelli that explores the New York studios of the major protagonists in the contemporary art scene.

Artists include: Alex Katz, Alfredo Jaar, Anne Collier, Anthony McCall, Banks Violette, Cecily Brown, Dan Colen, Dana Schutz, Elizabeth Peyton, Francesco Clemente, Glenn Ligon, Jack Pierson, Joan Jonas, John Giorno, Jonas Mekas, Jordan Wolfson, Joyce Pensato, Julian Schnabel, Julie Mehretu, Kiki Smith, Lawrence Weiner, Mariko Mori, Marilyn Minter, Marina Abramović, Matthew Barney, Mickalene Thomas, Nate Lowman, Pat Steir, Rashid Johnson, Rob Pruitt, Rob Wynne, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Robert Longo, Ryan Sullivan, Shirin Neshat, T.J. Alessandra Schade writes: “Being both a site of creative production and personal exploration, the artist’s studio is home to the performative and deeply private alike. . . Yet, in a post-studio, post-Internet artistry era where artists work primarily out of backpacks, collaborating in coffee-shops or remotely from a laptop, the artist studio can be seen as a nostalgic artifact from the the long-lost days of Soho’s vacant lofts and bohemian community.”
