From Fanny Arlandis’ article for Slate:
“The word ‘witch’ does not mean one thing, but assumes a multitude of identities,” explains Frances F. Denny. For three years, this American photographer has been portraying women claiming to be modern witches. “In my eyes,” she continues, “witchcraft and feminism go hand in hand. Feminist belief is an important undercurrent in the vast majority of my subjects.” Her work, Major Arcana: Witches in America, is on display at ClampArt Gallery in New York until November 24, 2018.
