Four photographs by artist, Jesse Burke, are included in “America in View: Landscape Photography” at the RISD Museum in Providence, Rhode Island, which opens tonight from 5.30 – 8.30 pm! A broad panorama of the country’s topographies and correlating narratives, “America in View” reveals a nation’s ambitions and failings, beauty and loss, politics and personal stories through about 150 photographs spanning nearly 150 years.

In retrospect, it is hard to tell which influences were conscious and which simply the tenor of the times. The 70’s were a period of transition in photography as well, with traditional documentary approaches being influenced by conceptual approaches from the art world. Whatever the case may be, these images form an important record of a transitional time in both the country music culture and its environment.

The point is: He has extensive documentation of a particular time in country music history. He bore witness to the rising star of Dolly Parton, the heyday of Del McCoury and the twilight of standbys like Lester Flatt.
