Frank Mullaney’s work transformed religious iconography into a language of queer affirmation. Through his series “Wallpaper Saints,” he reclaimed images associated with guilt and shame, turning them into spaces of celebration, desire, and belonging. His portraits placed queer people in the position historically reserved for saints, reclaiming for them the reverence so often denied.
