From Lin Tyrpien’s article for Creative New York:

“Meryl Meisler was born in the Bronx in 1951 and came out in 1975, and in the late seventies she spent her nights photographing the city’s discos while working as an illustrator during the day. She kept most of those photographs to herself, spending thirty-one years as a New York City public school art teacher before she retired and finally shared them. She has several photographs in the book, but I love the one on the cover. It’s from Les Mouches, a Chelsea disco from that era, in June of 1978, and it shows two women lying on the floor of the club wrapped up in each other. Meryl’s wife sat in the front row and smiled at her the entire time she was on stage. I love us.”
