Meryl Meisler has been capturing New York street scenes, nightlife, and queer moments for decades, with a stunning portfolio dating back to the ’70s. I went through her “Street Walker” series, “A Tale of Two Cities: Disco Era Bushwick”, and finally “Purgatory & Paradise: Sassy ’70s, Suburbia & The City,” where I found an iconic photograph of three men waiting on a Fire Island dock. Titled “Three Wait on Dock,” Cherry Grove, Fire Island, NY, the photograph inspired poetry, short stories, and work by fellow artists. We are pleased to present the pieces that Meryl’s photograph prompted.
