Grinker’s unparalleled access is due to her entry early as a photography student. This was while Tyson was living and training under the protection of married couple Cus and Camille D’Amato in the Catskills mountains south of New York. The first impression must have been of a large, but shy and vulnerable boy.

Although, the foreword in “Mike Tyson” testifies that Grinker glimpsed the dark side of the object. On one occasion, he “spoiledly” grabbed her breasts, she writes. In the end, the collaboration is said to have broken down because he was sloppy with agreements.
