From Jeff Katzin’s article forView Magazine:
Kinship was inspired by the recent acquisition of five photographs by Jess T. Dugan, which anchor the gallery. Dugan creates art in order to investigate identity, often using their own experiences as a queer, nonbinary person as starting points for broader explorations of gender and sexuality. The photographs on view are part of a long-term project focusing on three generations of Dugan’s family: Jess’s mother Diana and her partner Chris, Jess and their partner Vanessa, and finally Jess and Vanessa’s daughter Elinor.
