This series combines paintings and watercolors with photographs of businessmen taken surreptitiously with Carl’s iPhone. Shot exclusively at the New York headquarters of Goldman Sachs at the height of the economic boom, the photos are scaled down and incorporated into painted ‘Voids.’ Cut away from their original context, the men wander through various abstract spaces. They remain in their original poses, allowing subtexts of fetish and fantasy to bubble to the surface.
