From Jason Jose’s post at Faith is Torment:

This new series by fine art photographer Michael Massaia focuses on “the time in the Central Park when the day begins to surrender to the night, and the subsequent relief brought on by the dropping sun.” Massaia states that he’s always had a bad reaction to daylight (migraines, photophobia, etc…) which stems from spending long periods in the darkroom and that these images are “an attempt in depicting that anticipation of the day beginning to turn into night (staring down the sun in a way.)” All of the images were captured using 5”x7” and 4”x5” view cameras, black and white film, and the final prints are gold, and iron toned to create the blue cast.
