From Erwan Filidori’s article for METAL regarding the SaveArtSpace exhibition “The Future is Female”:
This month, SaveArtSpace is going to team up with Atlas Music Publishing and 1m1w1d – a monthly event in Brooklyn that supports local artists – to showcase female talent rom New York. This time, the city will host an exhibition that keeps reminding people of how women are not as well represented in society as men. From eccentric illustrations to small collage figures, from amazing photographs to cartoon sketches, the works of the ten selected female artists – including Julie Orlick, Lissa Rivera, Elise Peterson and Jess Wittham – will get the opportunity to be shown large scale, and most importantly, substitute brainwashing ads. Exactly like any advertising campaign, the goal of this exhibition is to catch the viewer’s eye and create an immediate reaction. In that sense, New York City billboards will transform themselves into a springboard for feminist art.
