From the article at Faith is Torment:

Inverted color photos of seascapes shot during the peak hours of hurricanes and nor’easters by fine art photographer Michael Massaia. Based on his original black and white series entitled The Pull, Massaia states that he has always been fascinated by the movement of the sky and the movement of the ocean. The images are printed the way they appear on the ground glass, inverted and backwards, which becomes visually disorienting. The ocean takes on a new shape where mountains, landscape abstractions and blowing brush appear in the distance. During the shoot, he had to stabilize his equipment and cameras because of the heavy winds. His tripod would be underwater when the large and violent set of waves came in, almost sucking his equipment out into the ocean.
