Rachel Papo’s work included in the landmark exhibition, “War/Photogr

Rachel Papo’s photograph, “Military kiosk counter,” is included in the landmark exhibition, “War/Photography: Images of Armed Conflict and Its Aftermath,” at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Curator, Anne Wilkes Tucker, along with Will Michels and Natalie Zelt, spent a decade organizing this astonishing show.

Rachel Papo and I flew down to Houston for the opening last weekend, and enjoyed the company of some amazing people, including artists James Nachtwey, Don McCullin, Jim Goldberg, Susan Meiselas, and more.

Frank Yamrus discusses his photography project and book “I Feel Lucky.” In his talk he will touch on his process for building and securing gallery representation and his marketing strategies.

9:30 – 11.00 a.m.
Frank Yamrus and Blake Fitch discuss how to build successful professional relationships in the fine art photography world. Admission $10.

11.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m.
Yamrus and Fitch perform individual portfolio reviews (limited to 5 photographers with photography portfolios). Space is secured in advanced by RSVP to 781-729-1158. Admission $20.

Joshua Lutz | “Troubled Mind,” PDN

Blending family archives, interviews, and letters with his own photographic images, Lutz spins a seamless and strangely factual (yet unflinchingly fabricated) experience of a life and family consumed by mental illness. Rather than showing us what it looks like, “Hesitating Beauty” plays with conceptions of reality to show what it feels like to grapple with a family member’s retreat from lucidity. The work breaks down the structure of the photograph as “truth” and challenges the traditional function of the medium in building narrative.
