Using The Site

PREPARING CONTENT

Make sure the image/pdf is large enough. It must be 980 pixels or more on the longest side. A horizontal must be 980 pixels wide and a vertical must be 980 pixels high.
Convert the image to sRGB color profile. (CONVERT and not ASSIGN).
Save for the web at 50%.

ADDING CONTENT

This includes images and pdfs.
Upload all images through their respective ARTWORK posts ONLY (or ARTIST/PRESS if a pdf). If you add an image using another post type (such as ARTIST or EXHIBITION) visit the image in the Media Library, unattach it from the post you uploaded it through and attach it to the correct ARTWORK post.
Complete the Title as you upload each image. Use the form Artist Name, Image Title. This do not appear when viewing the site, but is of the page and is indexed by search engines. It is important.

ADDING POSTS

Regards categories. As a general rule, if it’s in caps, nothing gets added to it. Category usage starts with post type and from there:

Artwork

Make sure there is a category for the artist in ARTIST NAMES. Upload the artwork image and add the artist name and image title to Title. Make the image the post’s featured image. Title the post with the name of the image. Add the image information to the post’s body. Add categories as below and publish the post.

Artwork Categories
a POST TYPE: Artwork / Gallery, Inventory
an ARTIST NAME: name
an EXHIBITION or SERIES TITLE: title

IMPORTANT NOTE: if an inventory artwork is shown in group show, or an inventory artist has an exhibition, the artworks in the show or exhibition need to be marked as both Artwork / Gallery and Artwork / Inventory.

Artist

Make sure there is a category for the artist in ARTIST NAMES. Choose one image by the artist in the media library that you would like to be used as the artist’s thumbnail on pages where multiple artists are listed. Make the image the post’s featured image. Title the post with the name of the artist. Add the artist’s information to the post’s body. Upload and insert into post the artist’s resumé after the artist’s information. When adding the resumé to the post, make sure the ‘Link URL’ is a file URL by clicking on the button ‘File URL’ before clikcing on ‘Insert Into Post’. Enter the artist’s last name as the value of the custom field ‘Last name’. Add categories as below and publish the post.

an ARTIST ALPHABET: A – F, etc.

Exhibition

Make sure there is a category for the artist in ARTIST NAMES. Make sure there is a category for the exhibition in EXHIBITION TITLES. Choose one image from the exhibition that you would like to be used as the exhibition’s thumbnail, or as a large image, on pages where multiple exhibitions are listed, or on the site and or exhibitions home page. Make the image the post’s featured image. Title the post with the name of the exhibition. Add the exhibition information to the post’s body. Add categories as below and publish the post.

Exhibition Categories
a POST TYPE: Exhibition / Primary, Secondary, Next, Past, Upcoming
an ARTIST NAME: name
an EXHIBITION TITLE: title
a YEAR: 2000 – 2005, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE: if an exhibition date is not of the form May 17 – June 23, 2012 (November 29, 2007 – January 5, 2008 for example), the date of the exhibition must be added as an excerpt.

Series

Make sure there is a category for the artist in ARTIST NAMES. Make sure there is a category for the series in SERIES TITLES. Choose one image from the series that you would like to be used as the series’ thumbnail, or as a large image, on pages where multiple series are listed, or on the site home page. Make the image the post’s featured image. Title the post with the name of the exhibition. Add the exhibition information to the post’s body. Add categories as below and publish the post.

an ARTIST NAME: name
an SERIES TITLE: title

Press

Make sure there is a category for the artist in ARTIST NAMES (if you want it to appear in the Artist’s page). Make sure there is a category for the exhibition in EXHIBITION TITLES (if you want it to appear on the exhibition page). Upload the press logo (at 350px wide or wider) and press piece, add the Press Title as title to the press piece. Make the press logo the post’s featured image. Title the post with the atist’s name and the title of the press piece. Add a quote from the piece, a link to the press piece if possible and then the press piece as a pdf link to the post’s body. Then add links within ClampArt to whatever the press was covering and to the artist. Add categories as below and publish the post.

Press Categories
a POST TYPE: Press / Release, Coverage
an ARTIST NAME: name [if applicable, you want it to appear on the artist’s page]
an EXHIBITION TITLE: title [if applicable, you want it to appear on the exhibition page]

Publication

Make sure there is a category for the artist in ARTIST NAMES (if you want it to appear in the Artist’s page). Make sure there is a category for the exhibition in EXHIBITION TITLES (if you want it to appear on the exhibition page). Upload the publication image and

** add the publication title to Title and the author’s name to Alternate Text.

Make the image the post’s featured image. Title the post with the title and author of the press piece. Add the press piece information to the post’s body. Add categories as below and publish the post.

Publication Categories

an ARTIST NAME: name [if applicable, you want it to appear on the artist’s page]
an EXHIBITION TITLE: title [if applicable, you want it to appear on the exhibition page]

Blog

Make sure there is a category for the artist in ARTIST NAMES (if you want it to appear in the Artist’s page). Make sure there is a category for the exhibition in EXHIBITION TITLES (if you want it to appear on the exhibition page). Title and add the blog post text. Upload any images you want to publish in the post add the artist name and image title to Title. You can upload pre-sized images into the blog, or you can choose the medium format of an uploaded image, insert it, and then return to it in the post body. Click on the image of the photo within the image you have inserted to the left of the no entry sign, choose to size the image (60% works well on a medium image) and then save the post. Choose one image (if there are any) to be the post thumbnail, make this the post’s featured image. Add categories as below and publish the post. Also add tags, but to blog posts only.

Blog posts will be displayed as a thumb and an excerpt unless they are set to be a sticky post.
