ARTIST

Lowell Nesbitt was an artist best known for his vibrant depictions of flowers—often characterized by their monumental scale and elaborate realism. Typically filling the composition, the flowers are isolated in space. He also was a painter of the nude male form.

One of the most celebrated artists of his day, in 1980, the United States Postal Service honored Nesbitt by issuing four stamps based on his floral paintings.
