Helen Levitt (1913–2009) was a celebrated American photographer and filmmaker, renowned for her evocative street photography. A master of capturing candid moments, she spent decades documenting the vibrant, unscripted life in New York City’s working-class neighborhoods. Levitt’s photographs are characterized by their spontaneous humor, surrealist beauty, and deep humanism, with a particular focus on the playful world of children.
