For Frances Denny (GAL ’07), an award-winning and internationally exhibited photographer whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and Architectural Digest, among many others, life as a photographer didn’t begin with a “when I first held a camera” origin story. It actually wasn’t until after graduating from NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study that she got serious about the medium: “I had a breakthrough when I realized that photography had the unique ability to be both an expressive art form and an income-generating vocation,” says Denny when asked about her career and how she was drawn to photography.
