Russell Lynes (1910–1991) was an American editor, critic, cultural historian, and occasional painter. Best known for his witty writings on taste, design, and social hierarchy, he served as managing editor of Harper’s Magazine and authored influential books including The Tastemakers (1954). His wide-ranging career bridged criticism and practice, helping to shape mid-20th-century discourse on art and culture.
