ARTIST

Florencia Alvarado is a visual artist, photographer, and designer based in New York. Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela in 1984, she studied Graphic Design at La Universidad del Zulia and holds a master’s degree in Communication Design from Universidad de Buenos Aires. Alvarado’s work is lens-based and often deconstructs traditional photography through the use of digital art, collage, and still life. She is a co-founder of WMN Zine, a publication that has received the Queens Funding for the Arts Grant twice. Alvarado’s work has been exhibited internationally, including in solo shows and group exhibitions. She has also given workshops on self-portraiture and book-making.
