ARTIST

Conrad Marca-Relli (1913–2000) was an American artist associated with the first generation of Abstract Expressionists. Best known for his large-scale collages, he developed a distinctive technique combining cut canvas and paint to create bold, architectural compositions. A contemporary of de Kooning and Pollock, he was a founding member of the Eighth Street Club and exhibited in the landmark 1951 “9th Street Show.” His work has been widely exhibited and is held in major public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum.
