Kiss

John Edmonds (b. 1989) is an American artist and photographer based in Brooklyn, New York, celebrated for his intimate and formalist photographs. Edmonds earned his BFA from the Corcoran School of Arts and Design and his MFA from Yale University. His work, which explores themes of identity, community, and desire, is known for its meticulous attention to composition and lighting. He often photographs young Black men, close friends, and culturally significant objects, such as African sculptures and du-rags, to engage with themes of race, gender, and power. Edmonds has been a participant in the Whitney Biennial, a recipient of the Foam Paul Huf Award, and his work is held in the permanent collections of major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
