Gerhard Marcks (1889–1981) was a German sculptor, printmaker, and Bauhaus teacher celebrated for his stylized figurative works in sculpture and ceramics. Branded a “degenerate artist” by the Nazis, he went on to become one of postwar Germany’s leading sculptors, with a dedicated museum in Bremen honoring his legacy.
