Doris Mitsch writes: “Like anyone who witnesses one, I’m fascinated by starling murmurations and have been trying to shoot them for years. But I’m always a little too late, or too far away, or it’s getting too dark. This year I got lucky. Each photograph is a composite of hundreds or thousands of images made over the course of a few seconds or minutes, showing the birds’ flight paths.”
