Stephen Shore is an American photographer recognized as a pioneering force in the acceptance of color photography in the art world. His projects American Surfaces and Uncommon Places are considered landmark works of 20th-century art. Shore has directed the Bard College Photography Program for decades, and in 2017 he was the subject of a major retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
