Scott Williams

Scott Williams (b. 1956, Sacramento, CA) is an American painter and educator known for his abstract, textural works that explore color, surface, and materiality. His practice often involves layering paint and employing techniques that emphasize physicality and process. Williams holds a BFA from the University of California, Davis, and an MFA from the University of California, San Diego. He has exhibited widely in galleries and museums, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Berkeley Art Museum. Williams is a professor emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley, where he taught for over three decades.
