Tom Baril (b. 1952) is an American fine art photographer celebrated for his exquisitely crafted prints and masterful command of both traditional and contemporary photographic techniques.

Baril began his career as the master printer for Robert Mapplethorpe, where he honed his darkroom skills. Since establishing his solo career, he has developed a unique artistic voice, creating luminous and contemplative images of subjects ranging from urban architecture and seascapes to botanical still lifes. His work is distinguished by its meticulous attention to detail, form, and texture.

Baril’s photographs are featured in prestigious public and private collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum. He is the author of two monographs, Tom Baril (1997) and Botanica (1999).
