Cecily Brown (b. 1969) is a British painter who now resides in New York City. Her style displays the influence of a variety of painters from Francisco de Goya, Willem de Kooning, Francis Bacon, and Joan Mitchell, to Old Masters like Rubens and Poussin. With a distinctly female viewpoint, Brown’s vivid, atmospheric depictions of fragmented bodies, often in erotic positions are depicted among swells of color and gesture.
