Abstraction Suprematiste

Boris Chemetov was a Russian artist born in Moscow who, after spending time in Berlin, ultimately settled in Paris. There he frequented the cosmopolitan world of Montparnasse where he met the painters of La Ruche (an artist’s residence in the Montparnasse district of Paris) and representatives of l’École de Paris. Continuing his research, Chemetov enrolled in the free workshop of André Lhote. Chemetov is best remembered as a direct descendant of the early 20th-century Russian Rayonist and Suprematist painters, and highly influenced by both painters André Lhote and Léopold Survage.
