Thomas Hirschhorn was born in 1957 in Bern, Switzerland. Originally trained as a graphic designer, the artist has become renowned for his monumental sculptures and dense, immersive installations that address issues of consumerism and political discontentment; often using decidedly low-tech methods and materials in conjunction with found imagery and texts. Hirschhorn’s work can be found in numerous prominent collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York City; the Tate, London; and the Walker Center, Minneapolis; among others. Hirschhorn currently lives and works in Paris.
