Ryan McGinley (b. 1977) is an American photographer known for his intimate and lyrical images of youth culture. Emerging in the early 2000s with candid portraits of friends in New York’s downtown scene, he later gained acclaim for staged, dreamlike photographs of nude figures in natural landscapes. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in major museum collections, including The Museum of Modern Art; Whitney Museum of American Art; and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
