Philip Taaffe (b. 1955) is an American artist recognized for his vibrant abstractions that draw on motifs from art history, architecture, and the natural world. Working with techniques such as collage, silkscreen, and marbling, he layers intricate patterns into richly textured compositions. His work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in major museum collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Guggenheim Museum.
