From Erinna Giblin’s article for the Herald Sun:

Incredible image stitch-ups create scenes that take the viewer from day to night.
Starting his project ‘Day to Night’ in 2009, Stephen Wilkes has gone from capturing iconic scenes of New York to creating amazing dreamscapes of the world’s most famous cities.

After capturing seminal locations across New York City Wilkes is now travelling to other iconic cities around the world.

From the 2013 Inauguration of President Obama to the ships which dance around Shanghai’s harbour Wilkes’ depictions capture the magic of city life. The hustle and bustle we all get lost in during our busy days.

Fascinated with the concept of capturing an entire day within one photograph Wilkes says these images can change our perception of time: “Perhaps making our daily lives less fleeting”.

“It’s the history, architecture, people and street life add a dynamic element to my photographs.”
