From Kerry Pieri’s piece for Harper’s BAZAAR:

The stereotype of the 1980s is one of over-the-top flash, fashion and fantasy. Photographer Jeanette Montgomery Barron is presenting a beautiful version of New York in the 80s that’s wonderfully stripped down. Featuring some of the most influential artists, writers, musicians and influencers of the era, “Scene” captures luminaries including Cindy Sherman, Julian Schnabel, Kathryn Bigelow, Bianca Jagger, and a very young Willem Defoe at their most vulnerable.
